PRIVACY POLICY FOR THE ZAMFARA STATE TRANSPORT AUTHORITY’S COMMERCIAL BUS SERVICE.

    2. This Policy applies to all personal data (including video and audio recordings) collected by us in the course of providing commercial bus services within Zamfara State, under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR)

    • • Personal Data: Name, contact details, ticket information, and government‐issued ID numbers when purchasing tickets or registering for services.
    • • Video Recordings: CCTV footage and Car Dash Cam captured on buses, terminals, and depots for security monitoring and incident investigation.
    • • Service Data: Boarding and alighting times, route usage patterns, and on‐time performance metrics used to optimize schedules and routes.
  3. Purpose of Processing

    We process personal data and video recordings exclusively for:

    • • Safety & Security: Monitoring for unlawful acts, fare evasion, and emergency response.
    • • Incident Investigation: Reviewing footage to investigate accidents, passenger complaints, and operator conduct.
    • • Service Improvement: Analyzing travel patterns to enhance route planning, scheduling, and customer service quality.
  4. Legal Basis

    We rely on the following legal grounds under the NDPA/NDPR:

    • • Legitimate Interests: Ensuring passenger and staff safety, and improving operational efficiency.
    • • Legal Obligations: Compliance with transport safety regulations and court orders.

    • • Personal Data: Retained for up to 2 years, or longer if required for incident resolution or by law.
    • • Video Recordings: Retained for 30 days, unless flagged for investigation, in which case footage may be stored up to 180 days under secure conditions.

    We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards—encrypted storage, access controls, and regular audits—to protect personal data and video recordings against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

  7. Disclosure of Information

    We will not disclose personal data or video recordings except:

    • • To law enforcement or courts, when required by subpoena or legal process.
    • • To authorized service providers, for system maintenance, analytics, and training under strict confidentiality agreements.
    • • In aggregated, anonymized form, for reporting and academic research without identifying individuals.
  8. Your Rights

    Under the NDPA/NDPR, you have the right to:

    • • Access your personal data and request a copy of video footage relating to you, subject to security and privacy considerations.
    • • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete information.
    • • Erase personal data when it is no longer necessary for the purposes collected.
    • • Restrict or object to processing on legitimate‐interest grounds
    • • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
